METRO MANILA | Minister Hamid Aminoddin D. Barra of the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD) and President of  the National Ulama Cooperation of the Philippines (NUCP), attended the 4th International Islamic Finance Conference, a joint event of the  National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) and the Department of Foreign Affairs, as one of the guest panelists on November 25, 2019.

During the conference, he talked about the need to understand the basic of Islam. In addition, he discussed Moral Governance as one of the flagship campaign of Interim Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), in relation to Islamic Finance.

The Minister also met the NCMF Bureau of Settlements, which was attended by Commissioner Samad S. Pangandaman, Acting Director Yasmin A. Naga, and Chief of Staff Nikkolai D. Saidamen.

The meeting was centered on the settlements plan not only within the BARMM, but also for Muslim communities outside BARMM. The Commission and the Ministry agreed to forge a Memorandum of Understanding to this effect.

The Minister also discussed during the meeting the Bangsamoro legal systems in a Round Table Discussion entitled Implementation of Indigenous Peoples’ (IPs) Traditions into the Training of Judges held at the Peninsula Manila Hotel, which was spearheaded by the Philippine Judicial Academy of the Supreme Court. The Meeting was chaired by retired Supreme Court and Philippine Judicial Academy Chancellor Hon. Adolfo S. Azcuna.
