The Ministry of Human Settlements and Development conducted an orientation on the ‘Magna Carta for Homeowners’ Association (HOA)’ for the homeowners of the New Makati Subdivision Housing Project held June 16, 2021 at the NHA-Sulu Project Office in Indanan, Sulu. An inspection activity followed the next day, June 17, 2021, for the proposed site in Barangay Alat, Jolo, Sulu.

The orientation and site inspection activities were handled by Hussin A. Amin II, Provincial Area Coordinator and Mohammed-Aishier I. Dammang, Area Supervisor, who are both employed under the MHSD-BASULTA Extension Office in Zamboanga City.

The said activities were held in cooperation with Shara Lei J. Daluddin, Community Support Services Officer and Engr. Sajid Ryan I. Roldan, Principal Engineer A, who are both from the NHA District 2 Office in Zamboanga City.

The homeowners are beneficiaries under the New Makati Subdivision project which was funded by the National Housing Authority and implemented under its Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP).

The project aims to provide a permanent resettlement site for families identified as fire victims in Barangay Walled City, Jolo, Sulu that happened on October 24, 2010, and other families qualified for relocation and resettlement under R.A. 7279 known as the ‘Urban Development and Housing Act of 1992’.

Coordinator Amin conducted the site inspection with the assistance of NHA-Sulu personnel. They visited the 49,071 square-meter lot located in Barangay Alat Jolo, Sulu, and performed an ocular inspection of the site, which is required by MHSD prior to the issuance of certificate of registration to a HOA applicant.

The activities culminated with the election and induction of the officers of the HOA, which was attended by Amin, who congratulated the officers and reminded them of the importance of maintaining a functional HOA after being certified in order to sustain the housing project and serve the needs of its members in the long run.
