Led by Suharto S. Wahab, Director II for Technical and Regulatory Services, the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development, the Housing Arm of the BARMM and member of the Regional Land Use Committee (RLUC) Technical Working Group (TWG), actively participated during the review and refinement of the Bangsamoro Spatial Strategy (BSS) on October 10-14, 2022 at the Grand Summit Hotel, General Santos City.

Spearheaded by the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA), the activity aimed to integrate land use and spatial planning policies, plans, and programs, including disaster risk reduction and management, into the regional plan, in accordance with the RLUC’s functions.

The BSS is the third chapter of the Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP), which describes the physical characteristics of the region and provides strategies for a spatially integrated Bangsamoro region.

Lead resource speakers throughout the refinement writeshops were representatives from the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) for Region 12 and Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA).

The activity’s output will be integrated into the 2nd BDP covering years 2023-2028.

Assisting Dir. Wahab throughout the activity were LArcht. Jehanna K. Abdulkarim, Housing and Homesite Regulation Officer for the Regional Office, and Hyra B. Ali, Administrative Assistant I.

The MAFAR, MILG, MIPA, MOST, MPW, MTIT and the OCM-TMS actively participated with the MHSD as RLUC-TWG members throughout the five-day activity.
