Adopting compassionate communication, the top management and executive committee of the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development, the Housing Arm of the BARMM, met to assess midyear performance and strategically plan for its coming three-year implementation, held at the Blue Lotus Hotel, Davao City on October 01-03, 2024.

The activity was one of the major highlights of the Ministry’s celebration of the National Shelter Month this October 2024.

Minister Atty. Hamid Aminoddin D. Barra led the team and reminded the participants that, as government employees, they must serve as role models of sincere service and to live humbly and simply to please only Allah SWT, not their desire, in this materialistic world.

“Our purpose in life is to serve Allah SWT, in whatever we do and this is part of it,” Minister Barra emphasized.

Deputy Minister Aldin H. Asiri was grateful for the activity’s success, highlighting the timeline of ways forward, while acknowledging that there is still much room for improvement for a newly established Ministry such as the MHSD. He reminded everyone of their deliverables expected before the end of 2024, which is already at its last quarter.

Bangsamoro Director General Esmael W. Ebrahim welcomed participants to the strategic planning to discuss about where and how is the MHSD now and where it should go.

Throughout the discussions, participants observed the Compassionate Communication Approach to Planning and Assessment as presented and facilitated by resource speaker Amina T. Mambuay, the only certified Compassionate Communication trainer in the Philippines.

Also presented throughout the activity were the Previous Strategic Plan from year 2023, the updating of the Ministry’s Vision and Mission statements and Goals, updates on the Bangsamoro Housing and Human Settlements Plan (BHHSP) and expected outputs moving forward.

The Ministry’s Management and Executive Committee is composed of the minister, deputy minister, Bangsamoro director general, service directors, provincial directors, division chiefs, and section heads.

The activity was facilitated by the Internal Planning Section, assisted by the other sections under the Office of the Minister.
