The major achievements of the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD), the Housing Arm of the BARMM, were highlighted in the BARMM Key Milestones that was published by the Bangsamoro Information Office on December 29, 2024, at the official Bangsamoro website.
The post highlighted the region’s ongoing developments and progress under the leadership of Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim, which addressed the region’s pressing challenges, such as delivering housing for displaced families, enhancing education for over a million learners, and driving economic growth through livelihood interventions and record-breaking investments.
Notably, the MHSD was acknowledged in three separate accomplishments, namely Housing and Resettlement, Infrastructure Development and Disaster Response, and Environment Protection.
The MHSD completed 1,107 housing units under its Resettlement Housing Program, benefiting former combatants, displaced individuals, and marginalized communities. This marked a 330% increase in completed units from the previous year.
The latest awarded houses were 100 units in Basilan, 50 of which were in Brgy. Upper and Lower Bato Bato, Akbar, and the other 50 in Brgy. Libug, Sumisip, on December 18, 2024.
Additionally, the MHSD has built 26 training centers across the region to support skill development and community infrastructure.
The latest training center was turned over in Brgy. Calsada, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte on November 8. The construction of the training center was funded under the Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) 2021 of Hon. Abdulwahab M. Pak, Member of the Parliament (MP), who personally attended the ceremony.
Moreover, the Ministry has distributed emergency supplies to 1,191 beneficiaries who were affected by Typhoon Carina.
The post-distribution monitoring of the emergency supplies was conducted on November 25 and 27, where extensive house-to-house visits were led by the Ministry’s Monitoring and Evaluation Division to gauge the effectiveness of the assistance provided to the beneficiaries, the process of distribution, the beneficiaries’ understanding of the selection process, and the knowledge of the beneficiaries in communicating complaints and feedbacks.
