Three hundred affected families are now set to get back to normalcy after their houses in Brgy. Bulol, Ligawasan (Pikit), Special Geographic Area (SGA), were damaged by flash flood caused by Typhoon Carina, after obtaining non-food items (NFIs) using e-vouchers distributed by the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development, the Housing Arm of the BARMM, provided by the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) on October 31, 2024.
The MHSD team was led by Salem C. Demuna, REA, Director II for Operations and Management Services while the team from CRS was led by Bai Maroudz Ibrahim, CRS Deputy Program Manager.
The Beneficiaries flocked at the accredited vendors after receiving the PHP 2,000.00-worth vouchers, enabling the families to buy common household items and necessities that were lost or damaged during the onslaught of the typhoon.
They were able to buy bowls, chopping boards, cups, dish drainers, forks, kettles, knives, mugs, pans, plates, pots, spoons, blankets, clip fans, flashlights, insect repellants, mats, mosquito nets, solar lamps, and tarps.
Beforehand, the CRS and the MHSD’s Housing and Human Settlements Division thoroughly assessed the chosen vendors or shops where the e-vouchers were used.
The correct and complete number of beneficiaries was provided by the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (LDRRMO) of Ligawasan based on the data of totally and partially damaged houses published in the Situational Report (SitRep) of the Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READI)-BARMM.
Meanwhile, the list of specific names was provided by the Local Government Units (LGU) of Ligawasan.
