After their homes in Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur, were damaged by flooding caused by Typhoon Carina, at least 300 affected families are now set to rebuild after obtaining non-food items (NFI) using e-vouchers distributed by the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development, the Housing Arm of the BARMM, provided by the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) on October 15-16, 2024.
The vendors or shops, where the e-vouchers were used, were chosen after thorough assessment by the CRS and the MHSD’s Housing and Human Settlements Division.
From there, beneficiaries were able to buy common household items and necessities that were lost or damaged during the onslaught of the typhoon.
Each of the vouchers was worth PHP 2,000.00 and enabled each of the families to choose from bowls, chopping boards, cups, dish drainers, forks, kettles, knives, mugs, pans, plates, pots, spoons, blankets, clip fans, flashlights, insect repellants, mats, mosquito nets, solar lamps, and tarps to buy.
The Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (LDRRMO) of Datu Piang provided the correct amd complete number of beneficiaries based on the data of totally and partially damaged houses published in the Situational Report (SitRep) of the Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READI)-BARMM.
Meanwhile, the list of specific names was provided by the Local Government Units (LGU) of Datu Piang.
