After months of rigid distribution of shelter toolkits, non-food items (NFIs), and e-vouchers, the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development, the Housing Arm of the BARMM, with the Catholic Relief Services (CRS), monitored the post-distribution status of the victims of Typhoon Carina who benefited from the post-disaster responses.
Two teams visited beneficiaries for monitoring on November 25, 2024, one team in Lanao del Sur for the beneficiaries in the municipalities of Balabagan and Kapatagan, and the other team in Maguindanao del Norte for Matanog and Parang.
Another monitoring activity was conducted on November 27 for the municipalities of Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur and Ligawasan, Special Geographic Area.
“We are very grateful to you [BARMM Government, MHSD and CRS] because you tirelessly help people like us. I hope you can help a lot more and give us a lot more like housing and cash assistance,” said in Filipino by Rama I. Saliba, who represented her co-beneficiaries from Matanog.
Through interviews, the Monitoring and Evaluation Division (MED) led the evaluation as to the effectiveness of the assistance provided to the beneficiaries, the process of distribution, the beneficiaries’ understanding of the selection process, and the knowledge of the beneficiaries in communicating complaints and feedbacks.
After the extensive house-to-house visits, the MED consolidated the responses from a total of 1,191 beneficiaries from the six municipalities across four BARMM provinces.
In total, the distributed items for assistance included 592 essential shelter kits, 583 NFIs, 113 toolkits, 600 NFI e-vouchers and 52 extra shelter-grade tarpaulins.
During the monitoring, the MHSD team was led by Salem C. Demuna, REA, Director II for Operations and Management Services while the team from CRS was led by Bai Maroudz Ibrahim, CRS Deputy Program Manager.
Each visit was in coordination with the MHSD’s provincial offices in Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, and SGA.
