Bangsamoro Director General Esmael W. Ebrahim of the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development, the Housing Arm of the BARMM shared the status of technical assistance to Local Government Units (LGUs) on the formulation and updating of their Comprehensive Land Use Plans (CLUP) during the Regional Coordination Meeting with Service Providers on the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Implementation that was held at the Acacia Hotel on May 8, 2023.

With BDG Ebrahim was L Archt. Jehanna M. Abdulkarim, Chief of Policy Development Coordination and Regulatory Division, who specified that ten LGUs from Maguindanao Province will be having their Module 3 CLUP Training this May.

Meanwhile, LGUs of Basilan and Tawi-Tawi are scheduled to have their Module 2 training, and those in Sulu will begin their Module 1 within the second quarter this year.

She added that LGUs from Lanao del Sur have completed up to their Module 1 training, while the Special Geographic Areas (SGA) has yet to schedule for their Module 1.

The CLUP Modular training has a total of 6 sessions, with an estimated completion time of 18 months.

Engr. Khalid S. Dumagay, CESE, Director General of the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG), welcomed the participants, sharing the SGLG’s initiative to develop tools and indicators agreeable to all stakeholders in measuring the qualitative and quantitative performance of the LGUs, and gauge the effectiveness of the utilization of government funds.

The activity was hosted by the MILG for partner ministries and agencies to discuss ways to encourage and challenge all LGUs in the BARMM to improve their performance and service delivery set across the criteria established by the program.
