Three engineers from the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development, the Housing Arm of the BARMM, joined the Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) teams composed of Ministries, Agencies and Offices of the BARMM in assessing the effects of the El Niño across the Special Geographic Area (SGA) on April 15-30, 2024.

Engr. Rafzan M. Mama, Project Evaluation Officer II of the Monitoring and Evaluation Divion, Normelyn A. Ibad, Engineer III, and Rasul Dalimbang, Engineer II, both from MHSD-SGA, assessed the damages of El Niño and visited the affected families based on their assigned sectors, led by the Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READI-BARMM).

Engr. Mama joined Team A, which covered barangays under the municipalities of Carmen, Kabacan, and some parts of Midsayap. Engr. Ibad was with Team B that surveyed the remaining barangays in Midsayap, Pigcawayan and some barangays under Pikit Cluster 1. Engr. Rasul was in Team C who surveyed the remaining barangays under Pikit Cluster 1, and those under Pikit Clusters 2 and 3.

Engr. Mama will join the survey teams across BARMM as they are scheduled, partnering with the MHSD’s Provincial Offices as needed. The RDANA teams will continue surveying El Niño affected areas across the Bangsamoro, gathering data for review and will be used as reference in upcoming projects to provide disaster relief interventions.
