The Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD), the Housing Arm of the BARMM, engaged in discussions with the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) on July 18, 2024 to explore a potential partnership in the enhancement of the Ministry’s Resettlement Housing Projects, named Darussalam Villages.

The MHSD team participated in the meeting at the WAMY Philippines office in Greenhills, San Juan City, under the leadership of Director General Esmael W. Ebrahim.

The main focus of the meeting was to explore the integration of additional facilities into the villages, particularly masjid (mosque) and madrasah (Islamic school).

Hamzah A. Salik, Provincial Director of MHSD-Special Geographic Area (SGA), emphasized the advantages of including Masjid and Madrasah in the housing projects to enhance the spiritual and educational environment of the community.

Accompanying BDG Ebrahim and PD Salik was Engr. Zainodin A. Buisan, Planning and Design Division Chief, who presented the MHSD’s mandate and its ongoing housing initiatives.

On the other hand, WAMY was represented by Director Adzhar J. Madjid, Legal Consultant Atty. Anwarul Wadud, Project Engineer Abdulhussien Jamahali, Accounting-In-Charge Lailanie A. Sali, and Administrative and Secretary-In-Charge Sohaimen M. Agal, who underscored WAMY’s dedication to community development by outlining its background and achievements.

Both parties expressed appreciation for the fruitful discussions, highlighting their mutual commitment to enhancing the lives of the Bangsamoro people.

The meeting concluded with plans to draft and finalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and arrange a site visit to MHSD project locations next month with WAMY representatives to evaluate the feasibility of the proposed facilities.
