Marking the third day of the week-long Bangsamoro Foundation Day (BFD) celebration, the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development, the Housing Arm of the BARMM, carried out today the ceremonial awarding of housing units to selected beneficiaries from Sultan Kudarat and Datu Blah Sinsuat and the turnover of shelter tool kits to the Local Government Unit for the victims of Typhoon Paeng in Maguindanao del Norte, held at the Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City.
Fifty housing units are to be awarded actually in Brgy. Banubo, Sultan Kudarat, funded under General Appropriations Act of the Bangsamoro (GAAB) 2022. Each of the houses is one-storey with 49 square-meter floor area, two bedrooms, one comfort room, living area, porch, kitchen and dining area.
Another 50 housing units are in Brgy. Laguitan, Datu Blah Sinsuat, funded under the Special Development Fund (SDF) 2021 and is composed of two different components, with same houses with that of the project in Brgy. Banubo, but with Solar Powered Water System Level II.
The beneficiaries of Brgy. Banubo were represented by Arbaya S. Abas, Aamsora G. Salem, Sumaidin I. Mokamad, Junior D. Anong and Faisal A. Sapal. Meanwhile, the beneficiaries from Brgy. Laguitan were represented by Badria D. Kanakan, Abdul Kudos D. Kandog, Nawir A. Dimapiil, Guiapar K. Kantar and Rahema D. Abpet.
In partnership with the BARMM-Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READi) and the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), the MHSD also turned over 1,733 shelter toolkits to the LGU of Datu Blah Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte that was later distributed to the recipients who are victims of Typhoon Paeng in the municipality, the same day.
From the total 2,266 shelter toolkits funded under the Quick Response Fund (QRF) 2022, families who were affected by the typhoon in Basilan will receive 379 boxes, those in Sulu are to receive 35 and those in Tawi-Tawi are to receive 119.
The recipients of the toolkits were identified through a post-disaster survey conducted by the Emergency Response Cluster after Typhoon Paeng devastated some areas of the BARMM in October2022.
Each toolkit contains a curved claw octagonal hammer, push-pull steel tape rule, tool box, straight hand saw, ripping bar, L-square, plumb bob, hack saw, slim nose pliers, pliers cutter, screw driver sets, and wood chisel.
