The Ministry of Human Settlements and Development, the Housing Arm of the BARMM, participated in the launching of the Islamic Finance Roadmap for the BARMM 2024-2028 held at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Center, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City on December 2, 2024.

“Through this roadmap, it is envisioned that by 2028, the Bangsamoro Government shall have a functional and operational Islamic finance system, guided by the principles of Moral Governance, that will contribute to the improvement of the financial well-being of the people in the region,” said Chief Minister (CM) Ahod B. Ebrahim in his keynote address.

CM Ebrahim also commended the Technical Working Group for Islamic Finance (TWG-IF), led by its Chairperson and Minister Dr. Mohammad S. Yacob of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), in the roadmap’s development.

Esmael W. Ebrahim, MHSD Bangsamoro Director General and TWG-IF Member, celebrated the BARMM’s institutionalization of Islamic Finance, looking forward to further working together in implementing the roadmap in the region.

Guided by the principles of Moral Governance, the roadmap is composed of five chapters that provide the overall direction that the Bangsamoro Government may take to promote and develop Islamic Finance within an integrated halal economy.

Bangsamoro Wali Sheikh Muslim Guiamaden, Grand Mufti of the Bangsamoro Sheikh Abdulrauf Guialani, Deputy Chief Minister Solaiman Ali,  Deputy Parliament Speaker Hatimil Hassan, Deputy Speaker Omar Sema, and other members of the parliament, other members of the TWG, development partners, and key stakeholders were also present during the launch.

With BDG Ebrahim, the MHSD was represented by Legal and Legislative Liaison Section Head Atty. Nasihah S. Mamarungcas, RSW, Member of the TWG-IF Secretariat, Records Section Head Charanie B. Pandi, and Information Officer I Juwairiyah bint Emran Mohamad.
