Another 50 housing units will soon rise in a site in the historic village of Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte, after the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development, the Housing Arm of the BARMM, the Housing Arm of the BARMM, led the groundbreaking ceremony on October 19, 2024.

As one of the highlights of the Ministry’s celebration of the National Shelter Month this October 2024, the activity was conducted for the ‘Construction of 50-Unit Resettlement Housing Project in Bgry. Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte. 

The ceremony for the project, funded under the General Appropriations Act of the Bangsamoro (GAAB) 2024, was led by Bangsamoro Director General Esmael W. Ebrahim with Salem C. Demuna, Director II for Operations and Management Services and the key personnel from the MHSD Regional Office and Maguindanao Provincial Office.

Fifty (50) families of decommissioned combatants of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) who were almost homeless during the struggle are expected to take residence after a profiling and awarding by the Housing and Human Settlements Division of the Ministry.

Each unit will have three rooms, a living room, and kitchen area and costs approximately PHP800,000.00 with the entire project totaling to more than PHP40 million.

“We aim to house every Bangsamoro family,” BDG Esmael said, emphasizing his gratitude to Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim’s support and its importance to the MHSD’s implementation of such project.

The MHSD has already awarded 50 housing units in the same barangay on October 21, 2023.
