The Ministry of Human Settlements and Development, the Housing Arm of the BARMM, participated in the Joint Task Forces on Camps Transformation (JTFCT) Conference held at the Kutawato Hall, EM Manor Hotel and Convention Center, Cotabato City on April 1-2, 2024.

Supported by the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue (CHD) and the development partners, the conference and reflection session assessed the progress of the Camps Transformation to identify the successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.

The conference focused on the six acknowledged Camps, namely Abubakar, Bader, Bilal, Bushra, Omar, and Rajamuda.

Discussions were also made on plans requiring more development and updates of development partners on the Camps.

Construction of 600 housing units is to be implemented by the MHSD for the Camp Transformation Plan, one hundred of which will be built in every camp.

The MHSD was represented by Salem C. Demuna, REA, Director II for Operations and Management Services, and Archt. Samantha Jean E. Wee, Design Section Head of the Planning and Design Division.

Members of the Parliament (MP) Hon. Engr. Baintan Adil-Ampatuan, CSEE, MNSA, and Ali O. Salik, and Retired Lieutenant General Danilo G. Pamonag were some of the leaders who personally attended the conference.

Also in attendance were other Ministries, Agencies and Offices, coordinators and co-chairs from both the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), and representatives from development partners.
